When I think of wedding venues, a castle is right up there in the romantic stakes. When Gemma & Jon booked me to photograph their wedding at Warwick Castle, I couldn’t wait!
THE MORNING
Gemma and her 6 bridesmaids got ready at her Mum’s house. The house was buzzing as they had their hair and makeup done. I love to capture bridal prep, it is a special few hours as the bride gets ready with her closest friends. As she thinks about the day ahead, special moments are shared as they reminisce with funny and emotional stories. I worked with a 2nd photographer on the day, which is a great way to capture the complete story. He photographed the Groom prep as the boy’s got ready.
Jon sent a present over to Gemma, for her to open before the ceremony. This was a beautiful box filled with chocolates, a gorgeous bracelet and a timer! The timer was ticking, counting down the time left until their wedding (how romantic!). Jon’s way of making sure Gemma turned up on time!!
THE WEDDING
The wedding took place at St Andrews Church. The timer must have worked because on signing the register, the Vicar rewarded the newly weds with £50 because the wedding had started on time!
The reception took place at the stunning Warwick Castle. This place has so much character and history, there is a really magical feel to it.
The Great hall where the wedding breakfast was held looked magnificent, dressed beautifully for the wedding. A tremendous Christmas tree stood in the corner of the room.
A SURPRISE
Gemma had secretly organised a surprise for Jon (who is a massive Only Fools and Horses fan). As Gemma’s Dad stood up to kick off the speeches, he was interrupted by ‘Del Boy’ who arrived, cocktail in hand and prepared with jokes for the wedding party. He looked just like the real thing and was brilliant- completely true to character, keeping everyone entertained. A very funny twist to the day!
A fire eating Jester enticed the wedding party out into the cold night and sparklers kept the children entertained. Dancing was in full swing to a live band as I left. It was a beautiful wedding at a stunning venue. I wish Gemma & Jon love and best wishes for a wonderful future together. x
