When Harry & Sarah booked me for their Thorpe Garden wedding, I couldn’t wait! As a big fan already of the Cripps Barn wedding empire, I couldn’t wait to photograph at their latest wedding venue. I love wedding venues with something a little bit different to offer and Thorpe Garden really stands out from the crowd. Sarah & Harry were guests at a previous wedding I had photographed so I was very excited to capture their wedding. As soon as I arrived, just ahead of Sarah, I could immediately see why they fell in love with the place and were so excited to hold their wedding here!
I met Sarah & her bridal party in the morning, enjoying the luxury of Breedon Hall. Only 20 minutes drive away from Thorpe Garden, it is the perfect place to get ready at. Harry greeted guests in the sunshine on the terrace at Thorpe Garden and then nervously awaited Sarah’s entrance!
The ceremony room is a state of the art building, designed by award winning architect Seth Stein. With floor to ceiling windows, the light streams in and you are treated to gorgeous views overlooking the terrace and gardens. Sarah walked down the aisle with her Dad, getting emotional as she approached Harry. It’s always a favourite moment to capture!
Drinks in the Walled Gardens
In the scorching May sunshine, enjoying drinks and canapes in the beautiful 2 acre walled garden, it felt like a destination wedding abroad, but with the beauty and colour of an English country garden. There was a relaxed, fun vibe, sunglasses on and guests chatting and laughing. Magician Damian Slurr provided entertainment to the guests as they enjoyed the gardens. The private Thorpe estate, tucked away within 3000 acres of Staffordshire countryside is a truly beautiful place to spend time celebrating with loved ones. It feels like a secret garden, bursting with beautiful flowers and plants, including a tunnel of wisteria which makes an amazing backdrop for photographs.
Thorpe Garden Yurt
Thorpe Garden stands out with it’s magnificent, hand-crafted yurt. With solid oak doors and large windows framing the garden views, it is a brilliant space to host your wedding breakfast. Cripps & co are no newbies to producing the finest wedding feasts and with a team of top chefs, Thorpe Garden is no exception. Harry, Sarah and their family and friends enjoyed a delicious wedding breakfast followed by hilarious wedding speeches- the stories really came out about poor Harry!
We sneaked out for more photographs in the golden evening light. Harry was absolutely buzzing as he looked around him, watching his guests enjoying themselves, chilling on the terrace and playing garden games. Inside the yurt, the room had been transformed into a spectacular dance floor and with Liam Price rocking the tunes, the party started!
Sarah And Harry waited a long time for this day with all the set-backs over covid. They had the most amazing wedding and I’m sure they agree it was definitely worth the wait!
