The weather is turning cooler and I am enjoying the cosiness that the start of this season brings. It is my favourite time of year for family photoshoots. As the woods change, the colours are stunning and there is a magical feel to them. The reds and oranges of autumn look vibrant in your photographs and really do bring something special to your images. Autumn family shoots are really popular and it is by far my busiest season for outdoor shoots with families and children!

The Beauty of Autumn

The light in autumn is also pretty special. A soft, sometimes golden light which is different from the bright, harsh sunshine of summer (when we get it!) We photographers are always going on about light- but it can be a magic ingredient to really beautiful photographs.

There is something so fun about an autumn family photoshoot. The children (and parents) love throwing leaves! Children have a great time exploring and hunting for fir cones and conkers that have fallen. Puddle jumping is a popular game too, often one we save for the walk back to the car! Fresh, crisp air, leaves you feeling good. The kids look adorable wrapped up in hats, scarves and wellies and often end up stripping off after running round having a great old time!

My approach to family photoshoots is a great match for families who don’t like posing or smiling for the camera. We take a walk around your chosen Warwickshire or West Midlands location and you are free to be yourselves, doing things that are natural to you as a family. The children are really relaxed on these shoots and they relish the family time, forgetting that they are having their photograph taken. The experience you have on your photoshoot is as important to me as your final images. I want you to look back at your photographs in the years to come, smiling at the memories of the fun you had.

Warwickshire and the West Midlands is the home to stunning woodlands and parks that are perfect for family photoshoots. Two favourites of mine are Hay Woods in Baddesley Clinton, and Jephson Gardens in Leamington Spa. Often families choose a location they love to visit was a family. This makes your images more special as the location is meaningful to you.

Bit chilly after your photoshoot? How about a hot chocolate on the way home to really make the occasional a special one 🙂

I would love to hear from you if you are looking to book a photoshoot to capture memories with your family x
